Ronald W. Heckman of Downingtown

Ronald W. Heckman, 78, of Downingtown, died at home on Saturday, April 9, 2011 after a six-year battle with colorectal cancer.

He was born on January 9, 1933 in Reading, to the late Ira and Mary Heckman.

Ron was a 1952 graduate of Kennett Consolidated High School and attended Goldey Beacom School of Business.

He proudly served his country as a Marine in the Korean Conflict.

Ron was a printer by trade, working many years for Star Printing, Norcross, and Herb Leslie Printing.

He was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Downingtown and served as Trustee.

Ron enjoyed traveling with his wife, playing cards, and most of all, playing with his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his quick wit and great sense of humor.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, JoAnne D. Heckman; daughter, Karen Scott and her husband, Bob, of Downingtown; son, Jeffrey Heckman and his wife, Jennifer, of Avondale; and brother, Brooke Heckman of Longmont, Colo. He also leaves six grandchildren, Callie, Taylor and Zachary Scott, and Madeline, Alexis and Andrew Heckman.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Ron’s life celebration at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown, where a visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m.

Interment will be in Northwood Cemetery, Downingtown, at a later date.
